Pacific Islander, Pia Mia, was introduced to musical theater at the age of eight, when she fell in love with the stage and never looked back. At 12 she won the overall title at a local competition, advanced to the international competition and won the title of overall talent. The first ever international title claimed by a Pacific Islander. 
  
In January 2010, Pia Mia left her family and island life behind when she relocated from Guam to Los Angeles to pursue a professional career in the music industry.
